Afterword Tavern & Shelves is an amazing cocktail bar in Kansas City. Afterword Tavern & Shelves is a cool concept as it combines cocktails, books and board games. A good book has the remarkable ability to connect friends over midnight discussions, or to a garrulous passenger in the streetcar who loves the same writer. Simple paper pages can inspire a visit to a city or reconnect someone to a time and place of their past. Books can spark an idea or incite an argument and provide a tranquil escape from chaos.

Afterword Tavern & Shelves operates Wednesday & Thursday from 4 pm – 10 pm, Friday 4 pm – 10 pm, and Saturday 1 pm – midnight and Sunday through Tuesday the spot is closed. Afterword Tavern & Shelves features great atmosphere; excellent mellow vibe; awesome selection of beer options; super cozy vibe; great games – it’s fun to be able to play games while hanging out and drinking. Big shoutout for having chess tables; awesome live music; great delicious drinks; delicious handcrafted cocktails; lots of delicious food options; very friendly and knowledgeable bartenders; plenty of comfy seatings – it’s an intimate place with plenty of tables, bar seating and two comfortable couch areas; generally decent prices; literary-themed drinks – creative and delightful; and friendly service.
