After two years, Chef Vatche was promptly invited to help open Chuckchansi Gold Resort & Casino, where he eventually became Sous Chef at the flagship steakhouse, Vintage, followed by several years as Sous Chef at Tenaya Lodge in Yosemite. Prepared to return to his hometown of Fresno, Chef Vatche opened Cracked Pepper Bistro in 2006, focusing on regional cuisine using natural ingredients close to the source and wines from California.

Born in Armenia, Chef Vatche Moukhtarian of Cracked Pepper Bistro in Fresno, Calif., caught the cooking bug when he was 12 and later ventured to the San Francisco Culinary Academy, followed by an internship and a full-time job. Peppermill Casino in Reno under Chef Roger Morris.
