They offer traditional Italian entrees and baked pastas. Not to mention the best vodka sauce you will ever have. They’ve unique salads and appetizers. At lunchtime they’ve their hot subs and paninis cooked on their grill. Their thin, crispy pizzas and garlic bread fly out of their oven all day long and John’s meatballs are the best around.
The cozy bar hosts many beers on tap and speciality cocktails are plentiful. They take pride in serving their local customers and employees as well as the out of Towners who are only in their great city of Newark for a night. Owner of Ellie’s Bistro, John Hrindo has been a chef for over 40 years. Becoming the head chef of The Meeting Place in Madison when he was 23 years old started him off on a lifelong career. After owning Kirsten’s Italian Grill in Lebanon TN for over 20 years he decided to start again in Newark. This time with not only another authentic wood oven from Naples but a full service bar also.
Ellie’s Bistro features wonderful service; fabulous food; awesome lunch specials; a good amount of appetizers & entrees; nice ambiance; and delicious cocktails. The brick oven keeps the place warm in the colder months, and it’s quite busy but not too packed for lunch. It’s a great value, at least for lunch. They’re open until late for dinner and have a similar menu and prices, except for lunch specials. The cafe is clean, quiet, and tastefully decorated. They’ve unique salads and appetizers.
