Powerhouse San Francisco, Guide & Review

Experience a holiday like no other in San Francisco, Captivate your guests with stunning city views and one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in the state. From their grand staircase featuring Diego Rivera’s fresco Allegory of California to stylized bronze and stone reliefs and their carefully restored early 20th-century furnishings, The City Club offers a one-of-a-kind setting for your holiday party. The dramatic interiors are fully decorated for the season and matched by our outstanding cuisine with seasonal additions. They make sure they see to every detail whether it’s their signature hors d’oeuvres or a formal multi-course seated dinner. And The City Club’s impeccable, friendly staff is there to assist every step of the way.

Powerhouse hosts regular House Party with DJ and various themed nights with dress codes. Our favorites are junk underwear night on Thursdays and Glamifield  at Pillows Drag show. The classic bar features music, dancing, cruising area, go-go dancers, dark room, great atmosphere, good prices for beer and good looking stuff with friendly services. The Powerhouse is the closest thing to a sex club as you’ll find in San Francisco among places that serve alcohol, anyway. A nondescript hole in the wall on Folsom Street, it’s decorated like an over-the-top porn shoot, from the yellow-and-black tape to the Crisco light fixtures to the back patio a glorified staircase where shenanigans are afoot at all times.

Fetish nights, guys in gear and uniforms, BDSM demonstrations and raffles for LGBT charities keep this place in business, because it’s by no means a casual spot for happy hour. The Powerhouse is a place to pick up or get picked up, and there’s bound to be someone for everyone physically bound or not. It’s one of the best places to have a good time with friends and family.
