The Regattabar opened its doors to the public on January 29th, 1985. Since then it has become the leading jazz club not only in Boston but also in New England. Known as “Best of Boston” by Boston Magazine, the Regattabar has made its mark on the cultural landscape of New England. Honors have also been bestowed on the Regattabar by the Boston Phoenix and the Improper Bostonian.
In addition to showcasing acts not commonly found in the Boston section, the Regattabar is home to a yearly Jazz Festival that attributes the best of today’s jazz. The famed 225-seat venue is located on the third floor of The Charles Hotel at One Bennett Street in Cambridge, MA. All Regattabar concerts are open to all ages, though they request that children under the age of 13 should be accompanied by adults.
Showcasing such musical greats as Bo Diddley, Cassandra Wilson, and Ahmad Jamal, The Regattabar features shows up to five nights a week and is home to the annual Regattabar Jazz Festival, which runs from dates in February – to May, and is one of the best in the country and one of Boston’s premier events, featuring top-flight performers. Branford Marsalis, Joshua Redman, McCoy Tyner, and other luminaries are all Regattabar regulars.
