Felt incredibly looked after and not rushed, which was good as it was a busy service. The food was out of this world. I loved it. I will be back.

If you prefer brunch, try their book club benedict, loaded breakfast tater tots, or loaded waffles with jalapeño mac & cheese. Where else could you play computer games from the 1990s while drinking cocktails from a gramophone? Hillhead Bookclub is one of Glasgow’s hippest hangouts north of Clyde, with dazzling banter, drag brunches, terrific songs, ping pong, and incredible eats.

Join them over the weekend for DJs on Friday and Saturday. On Saturday the 16th, we had a fantastic late afternoon/early evening. I met up with some family and shared food and beverages. The Korean cauliflower was terrific, and our waiter, Abbie, was attentive. We will return for more outside eating. I recently enjoyed some meals and beverages here with a friend. The pricing is reasonable, and the service is excellent, particularly Mackenzie, who was attentive and ensured that we had a pleasant evening. The cocktails were delicious and reasonably priced. I would suggest and return here. Special shoutout to Ruth, who served me today. Very kind and patient with me, which I appreciated without a doubt.

At the weekend, enjoy the hidden snugs and retreats in the main bar when you attend FUNK’DIFANO Fridays and MANCUSO Saturdays, with weekly DJs providing you live entertainment throughout the evening as well as drink deals and packages to enrich the night. If you are willing to arrange a private event, many locations are available, ranging from 6 to 100 people.

So, whether you need a space for a corporate meeting, a business dinner, a hen night, or a kids’ party, Hummingbird has a space for you. I rented the Hummingbird Penthouse for my 30th birthday, and the service was excellent from the time I saw the venue last year until the night of the event. Robyn was quite helpful in organizing everything and flexible with the early delivery of balloons, cake, etc. The venue is conveniently located, and the penthouse has the ideal size and layout, with modern boutique vibes. The service was also outstanding on the night, and everything went off without a hitch. We were also allowed to leave some of the room decorations to be picked up later.
Chaophraya Glasgow
Chaophraya Glasgow is a Thai dining room with plush mustard-leather couches, a granite bar, and dazzling crystal chandeliers. Chaophraya, located on Buchanan Street in the center of Glasgow, provides a respite from the city. Their skilled Chefs, led by owner Kim, combine classic Thai and distinct trademark dishes, including vegan and gluten-free alternatives, and are complemented by a superb selection of cocktails, wines, and beers. They are happy to display contemporary Thai design with the characterful heritage surroundings on four stories, making them ideal for festivities and gatherings. They are looking forward to meeting you soon. Khun Kim and Martin, life and business partners, launched their company in 2004. Kim, the genuine inspiration and beating heart of their restaurants, grew up in remote Khiri Mat, a hamlet in Thailand’s Sukhothai region, where she learned to cook with her mother.
Kim left her hometown at the age of 15 for the bustling streets of Bangkok, armed with huge goals and entrepreneurial energy. Kim’s major love has always been food. Therefore she opened her first Pad Thai cart in 1993. She grew the business to handle multiple street food carts and earned an award for the exquisite flavors of her Pad Thai recipe via pure commitment and hard work. This recipe is still utilized proudly in their restaurants today. Kim and Martin met as Kim was working on that same stall in 1997 – and shortly after, she went to Leeds, Martin’s hometown and the location of their first restaurant. Although the backdrop has changed, the passion and emotion that drives their notion remain as strong as they did in the little town of Khiri Mat.

Kelvingrove cafe is a Brasserie bar with leather banquettes and wood paneling serving English mains, snacks, and sliders. Kelvingrove Cafe is all about perfectly garnished cocktails delivered in chilled glasses. This Glasgow institution is known for its intriguing variety of eccentric drinks, and it combines trendy elegance and old class simultaneously. The Kelvingrove Cafe, once a Victorian ice cream shop, is today one of the chicest and most sophisticated restaurant bars to have reopened in Glasgow’s West End in recent years. The Argyle Street pub’s original shabby exterior and sign have been preserved. They contrast nicely with the redecorated inside, with exposed brick walls, monochrome tiles, leather booths, and a massive brass bar. The menu is organized into three sections:
Small, medium, and extensive dishes, allowing you to choose the size that best suits your mood. Rockafella Skink, roasted filet of Scotch beef, salted beef mac & cheese, and churros are just a few delectable dishes. These people take drinking seriously, making massive blocks of ice in-house that are portioned out using 14-inch Japanese ice saws (!) to cool the drink without diluting it, resulting in a more ‘pure’ beverage. This Glasgow cafe bar is a blend of grown-up, whimsical, and well-traveled, with a vintage air that transports you away from Argyle Street. It was tough to choose from the festive menu because I am an incredibly picky eater. Kirsty put me at ease and went out of her way to bring me the cuisine I desired. On the other hand, my companion diner was really pleased with the menu.
I had breakfast here with a buddy this morning (August 13th, 22nd) and highly suggest it. The staff is kind, pleasant, and attentive. The food and beverages were hot and served quickly. The cuisine was excellent, and I would return for breakfast the next time I came. When our taxi driver picked us up from the airport on our way to our hotel, he urged us to stop at the cafe for breakfast. He was correct; we enjoyed a delicious breakfast that was quick to prepare. Excellent location. The taxi driver was excellent; I cannot suggest it strongly enough. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the café numerous times with a buddy and our dogs. The staff are warm & welcoming to us humans & our companions – they really can’t do enough for you actually, they are so kind.

Topolabamba is a Bright bar/restaurant with wood, stone, and colored lamps, for Mexican street food and cocktails. This chic eating and drinking establishment serves mezcal with Mexican dishes. Topolabamba, located on St Vincent Street, serves excellent tacos, hefty burritos, and a powerhouse of delicious margaritas – what more could you want? This cool-as-hell diner dishes up a fantastic choice of authentic Mexican food from four of the country’s critical culinary regions and a fantastic beer and spirit collection. Topolobamba, located on St Vincent Street in Glasgow, is a bar and canteen that keeps the hungry and thirsty of Glasgow fed till midnight. Drop in for a margarita, tequila, or Mexican beer and a substantial variety of Mexican sweets and cuisine. They’ve imported Mexican ingredients to create an authentic menu that includes tamales loaded with barbacoa beef or Yucatan pig, grilled prawns basted in Agave tequila and chili, taquitos filled with sour cactus and marinated chicken, and a baked fish of the day served with a red chili mole. We had reserved a table for seven people and one child. A wonderful lady served us with brown hair and a nose ring (sorry, no name!) Our server was professional and kind, and she went through the menu with me to choose some moderate alternatives because I’m not a fan of spicy food—which I liked because I was apprehensive about what I could order. The cuisine was excellent, and my companions were delighted; the kid’s menu was also very reasonable.
We’ll return when we’re next in Glasgow! We arrived in the afternoon and were greeted and shown our seats. As it was my and my partner’s first time dining here, it was pretty busy, which is usually a good indicator. We ordered food, and it arrived promptly. The food was prepped fresh and warm on arrival; the soft tacos, salt, and chili chips were delicious and would come back. A busy restaurant with a high client turnover indicates an excellent restaurant. You’ve got both of them right here. We ordered from the lunch menu – three options with fries for £11.99 is excellent value. I supplemented it with Fundo queso, the best hot cheese dip I’ve ever had. The food was hot and flavorful; I enjoyed the quesadillas. Excellent service and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Book your table ahead of time, or you’ll be disappointed if you can’t get in. I would love to come back here.

We visited The Ivy for the first time a few weeks ago. I had heard great reports about it from friends and family but living 35 miles away hadn’t had the opportunity to visit. I loved the atmosphere and decor, there is a great buzz about it, and I can see why it’s so famous for cocktails. We were placed upstairs at a table with a view of Buchanan Street, which was ideal for people-watching. Our amiable server was excellent. Very attentive without being too much. We ordered a bottle of house champagne which was very well priced and tasty. For starters, I had outstanding scallops, which were perfectly cooked. My partner had squid, which was also very good. My partner had haddock and chips for the main course, which was very good.
I opted for the rabbit and crayfish pie, which sounded an odd combination instead, but it was delicious. I enjoyed it alot, and I made plans to celebrate my birthday later in the month. This secret bar in Glasgow is home to a slick crowd of refined drinkers, some tasty eats, and exquisite cocktails. Chinaskis, a hidden speakeasy in the heart of Glasgow City Centre, is a rare find amid the numerous boozers on adjacent Sauchiehall Street. Chinaskiss is named after writer Charles Bukowski’s alter-ego and recurrent character, immortalized by Matt Dillon in Factotum and Micky Rourke in Barfly. It focuses on the attraction of the passionate protagonist, with a soft spot for whiskey and cigars.
The décor is straightforward, with discreet touches of extravagance in green leather and dark woods. A lovely garden in the back appears a world apart from the city outside. Candlelight, fantastical ambiance takes over the bar at night, making it a perfect setting for romantic encounters and whispered chats. Burgers, spaghetti, steaks, pizza, and the omnipresent bourbon are offered, as are a broad choice of liquor and drinks, with White Russians being particularly popular. The crowd is discriminating yet modest, courteous, well-informed, and keen not to have their tiny bit of heaven stomped on, bypassing beer louts. So don’t seek a sign since you won’t find one. You had to know who Chinaski was and be aware of your surroundings, or you’d miss this pub, which would be a tragedy of epic proportions.
Being a poet, being from Chicago, and knowing a lot about Charles Bukowski made this the ideal unintentional happy destination on a brief vacation to Scotland. We arrived by chance, but terrific rates and excellent service kept us there. We stayed inside because it was a wet day in October (2021), but there was a vast and well-appointed outside space if the weather permits. The service was courteous and prompt. They like working there, as we talked about Bukowski and the nuances of tourism. The meal was delicious. The Bukowski Burger was grilled to perfection and seasoned with the same intricacy as its namesake’s writing. I strongly suggest this establishment but don’t ask if you can get a tee-shirt. Good cuisine, friendly and attentive service. Excellent outside drinking and dining facilities, safe from the weather. The walk from Central Station takes around 20 minutes. I strongly suggest it.
