Dewz
Dewz has been a family-owned eatery serving elevated American cuisine & cocktails in a formal setting since 1997. At Dewz, no detail is overlooked. This upmarket American restaurant and bar deliver flawless service, cuisine, and environment. The food is sophisticated, with influences ranging from French to Asian to Italian meals. When we add a world-class wine selection to the mix, we have a complete upmarket package restaurant. They may serve everyday meals in a classically modern setting, but the DEWZ narrative begins with a touch of nostalgia. When Judy Aspesi and her son, Scott Aspesi, founded DEWZ in 1997, they had recently experienced a significant loss. Scott’s brother, Dewayne, had recently died after a long fight with illness. Scott named the restaurant DEWZ in honor of his brother.
Judy and Scott were active, hands-on proprietors for 20 years before handing over the Modesto dining landmark to the Jacinto Family. The Jacinto Family has worked hard to maintain the great DEWZ history while making the restaurant a genuine destination for superb cuisine, wine, and the environment. They take tremendous satisfaction in the fact that DEWZ has been passed down from one loving family to another, keeping the DEWZ legacy of being a family-owned restaurant alive. We had thought of visiting this restaurant before Covid arrived. We waited much too long to enjoy this restaurant, which was great. My wife ordered the filet mignon and a Caesar salad. I went with tomahawk ribeye and nearly finished it. Our supper was fantastic, and we will return to sample additional specialties.
I strongly recommend it if you’re looking for something great for a date or a fun night out with friends. Heather was our waiter, and she was fantastic. You name it: polite, friendly, and professional!!!! The atmosphere was ideal, the music was beautiful, and the food was delicious. What a fantastic evening! Eat American at Dewz Restaurant. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience for anyone in Modesto. So, they offer delicious salads as well as many other great foods. The food, drinks, and service are outstanding. This is one of the ideal dinner experiences we have ever had, and we have gone to several fine dining restaurants in the Bay Area. To make it even better, we had our dessert, and it was delicious. So, this is one of the best bars and restaurants Modesto has to offer you. If you are in the city, visit this spot!
Camp 4 Wine Café
Camp 4 Wine Café is a wine bar serving panini, charcuterie, cheese & beer in a spare-looking space with outdoor seating. Camp 4 Wine Cafe, as the name indicates, is passionate about fine wine. The wine list is extensive, and the food is fantastic and not to be missed. Gourmet panini, small nibbles, and a charcuterie and cheese selection with both local and foreign alternatives are available on the menu. During the dinner hour, Camp 4 also serves a daily-changing bruschetta starter with inventive taste combinations such as burrata with heirloom tomatoes and piquillo pepper with Manchego and sun-dried tomatoes. Climbers Camp 4, located on the north side of the road right across from Yosemite Lodge, has a restaurant, cafeteria, bar, lounge, store, and rooms for people who do not wish to camp or stay at Yosemite’s high-end Ahwahnee Hotel.
Camp 4 is and has always been a shabby place. That’s one of the reasons we appreciate it so much: it’s not tidy and organized like other Valley campgrounds. When we first went there, in the early 1950s, there was already a climbers’ camp, with enormous rocks and tents strewn around. The Park Service must have felt it was suitable for climbers. They were correct. We enjoyed the boulders and were relieved to have a place to lay our sleeping bags on the ground. We could find a table for our campground and relocate it if we didn’t like where it was. Camp 4 was our “home,” our haven from the “out there world.” Tourists in huge RVs would occasionally park there, possibly due to overcrowding in the Valley’s east-end campsites. They didn’t generally remain long. They didn’t like the chaos, but it was perfect for climbers.
The 1960′s were a period of enormous social upheaval, with war, demonstrations, and university closures. However, we climbers mainly disregarded it. We focussed on Yosemite’s walls. We also spent a lot of time at Camp 4 discussing literature, philosophy, females, life in general, and, of course, our upcoming ascent. Camp 4 was a fantastic spot to eat, live, visit with friends, and drink a bit – an excellent area to congregate. Camp 4 offers a large selection of wines and beers from all over the globe; they also specialize in fantastic Panino sandwiches, cheese and charcuterie, and fresh salads, utilizing local ingredients from this amazing Valley whenever they can. They serve lunch Monday through Saturday and supper seven nights a week. Reservations are much appreciated.
Lofi Cocktails
Lofi Cocktails is a comfortable cocktail lounge that allows you to enjoy favorite classics or house creations with fresh local ingredients while watching a projected movie on one of our walls! House-made shrubs, syrups, and garnishes contribute to the carefully thought-out cocktails they offer here. Need suggestions or want a surprise cocktail? Their mixologists will craft you a drink that caters to your specific wants. Happy hour is Tuesday-Friday from 3 pm-6 pm! The mixologist knows how to make every drink that my party ordered. This ranged from a Brandy Crusta to Jungle Bird to the Last Wish. These classic drinks were made to perfection. I definitely would come back. I always get their in-house creations, and they’re amazing. All the bartenders are friendly. The space is small and intimate.
Even though I haven’t yet taken a selfie in their bathroom it is a thing because it looks so cool. Our second time visiting, and I have to say, this has become our favorite spot to end a long week. Each of our drinks was expertly crafted, delicious and fun. I love the creativity, atmosphere, and relaxed vibe. So, the bartenders are skilled. The beverages are one-of-a-kind and expertly crafted. The area is limited, but they make good use of it. There are seats near the bar, wide sofas, and a small dance floor. Relaxed vibes and extraordinary beverages. Very reminiscent of the bar scene in my old neighborhood in SF- I love it! The cocktail menu is intriguing, but the bartenders are happy to test their mixology skills and create a drink for you on the spot if requested.
The drink I created was so delicious I had 2, and my non-vodka drinking friend also loved it. Some drinks are served in very cool cups- my friend had hers in a mini recycling bin, which was funny. They play movies on a projector and have a DJ later in the evening on the weekend. Bathroom art is also excellent. I highly recommend checking this place out! Lofi is a lowkey hidden gem! Easy street parking options. I walked in and loved the vibes in general. Bartenders were attentive and knowledgeable—a very relaxing space. Great music selection. The drinks were very well made. I love a full bar—A+ for ambiance. Therefore, I will return and try different nights! So, this is one of the best bars Modesto has to offer you.

They believe in providing quality, consistent food that tastes great every time in a comfortable, cozy environment. They aim to build a strong reputation with their customers, friends, and family. Eat delicious food. Grab a drink. But most of all, relax! They thank you from the bottom of their hearts for your continued support. I’ve been to this spot a few times now. To be honest, it’s delicious.
Suppose you download the touch tunes app and put on your favorite song, drinks, food, and great music. I enjoyed dinner Saturday, then swung around again for Sunday brunch the following day. (The Saturday bartender was convincing ) We enjoyed a delicious breakfast as well as some endless mimosas. The service was excellent as usual. I cannot wait to be back! Thank you, guys! I’ll be honest; when I looked at this place on Yelp, I went right to the menu pics. I didn’t read reviews or look at anything else. So when I walked in, I must admit, at first glance wasn’t what I expected. BUT… the huge smile we were greeted with, the service, THE COCKTAILS, THE FOOD were all above Par!
I snuck a peek at the patio, and it is freaking beautiful! There is a back room available for private parties at this venue. They have karaoke Tuesdays and brunch every Sunday. And happy hour! They have cute shirts for sale! The excitement I had while enjoying this place was almost embarrassing for those that don’t know me and my love of a good place to eat and drink. I was in the mood for a BBQ with some friends, and this place popped up on Yelp. I got the ribs with tater tots. It was amazing! The bar and restaurant are a little out of the way, but the food and service are fantastic! Mac and cheese with bread crumbs were to die for. Seriously mouth-watering! Hope to go again soon. So, this is one of the best bars Modesto has to offer you.
Galletto Ristorante
Galletto Ristorante is a Seasonal Northern Italian cuisine & with an extensive wine list served in a white-linen environment. Galletto Ristorante would be honored to provide their services for your next event. Each event is bespoke to your tastes and needs to provide the best experience possible for you and your guests. Galletto Ristorante is located in the heart of Downtown Modesto. Fresh and local ingredients are a staple. Visit them for a delicious culinary meal! They take reviews and criticism very seriously and are constantly growing and trying to improve their food and service! A delicious and unique gem in downtown Modesto! The four of us enjoyed our food in a beautiful ambiance outdoors. I almost forgot we were sitting outside because the glass covering above us and the running fans did not make you feel hot in our valley summer weather.
Lovely looking fountains and plants, as well. Sit outside if you can! And make reservations! The food was very, very tasty! It’s very much on the expensive end, however, the food made up for it! The portions were also large enough that leftovers were taken home. They give you bread with balsamic and vinegar as a starter. We enjoyed it a lot that we asked Joleen, our waitress, for another plate. That was almost iffy because we had to ask three times before a second batch was brought out. We got Blackberry Iced Tea (sweet and refreshing!) for drinks. We also tried the Strawberry Tea (even better!) Joleen was a fantastic waitress who gave her recommendations and insight into the different dishes.
We had half chicken with seasoned vegetables and roasted potatoes, lobster fettuccine, Margherita Pizza, and Ravioli for our main entrees. My cousin is vegetarian, and Joleen was able to add even more vegetables to her dish to make it satisfying for her. We had the Peach Cobbler and the Chocolate Mousse Cake for dessert. Everything was tasty. Our stomachs were full! Overall, a fantastic experience that should not be missed! I posted some pictures on social media, and I had a couple of family members say that the food looked delicious and wanted to try it. Despite its cost, you must go out and try some fantastic authentic Italian food! Think about elegance and unique flavors together! That’s how I describe my dinner tonight at Galletto Restaurant. So, this is one of the best bars in Modesto!
The Brass Tap
The Brass Tap is a cheerful bar with a terrace that serves a variety of beer, wine, and TVs tuned to sports and live music. The Brass Tap serves over 200 specialty beers worldwide in a pleasant yet classy neighborhood setting. Furthermore, their beer specialists can answer almost any query you throw at them. You’ll also discover daily promotions, live music, and one-of-a-kind events every month. Whether you’re entertaining a large or small group, you’ll feel perfectly at home watching the game or catching up on old memories. You may even unwind with a fine cigar on their lovely open-air terrace. Hungry? From salty to sour to sweet, their food selection has a flavor to suit your beer and satisfy your appetite. They indeed have the best craft beer lineup anywhere.
But the secret ingredient behind their success isn’t beer. It’s people. They are a household name in the craft beer business because each Brass Tap is a community hub, with staff members that make the magic happen every day, delivering that specific something that keeps visitors coming repeatedly. Do you like people? Do you enjoy the rush of a quick pace? Then you’ll enjoy it here. They are not your average bar. The Brass Tap also serves chef-inspired dishes that elevate pub food standards. In any case, there’s a spot for you here. What exactly are you waiting for? I tried this place, and this burger was possibly the perfect flavor-balanced burger I’ve had. (I’ve had many Lol) No one flavor overpowered the other.
The Bun was warm, perfectly crisp, and buttery; the Lettuce cool and crisp; pickles and tomatoes thinly sliced! (I know it’s a preference, but I don’t like the tomato thicker than the meat!) And the burger was flavorful and at the perfect temperature. Every bite was the same beautifully, delicious, perfect bite! I also had the cheese curds and tots. They were excellent but insignificant compared to the burger. I’m not sure whether this is a frequent delivery of this burger, but if it is, it’s a must. And the staff, excellent! The bartenders are friendly! Tip your servers! The food at this place is AMAZING. Brisket tacos were on Point, and Fish & chips were perfectly cooked and NOT Greasy! The salads are Big & fresh! The atmosphere is welcoming. The Wait staff is wonderful! So, this is one of the best bars in Modesto for you to visit.
Michael’s Pizza Bar and Grill
Michael’s Pizza Bar and Grill is a casual hangout for specialty pies, burgers, hot dogs & sandwiches, breakfast & happy hours. This location is fantastic. The “feel” of the location is that it is a pizza and bar establishment. It’s not exactly fine dining. They offer a vast menu, but I chose the $10.50 lunch special. It was fantastic. You receive a “good salad,” single-serving salad, and a two-topping pizza. The pizza was loaded with toppings, and both were tasty and filling. I’m a huge eater, yet I still had half of my pizza left. Based on my meal and the service, I suggest this restaurant—the best pizza in town, a great environment, and a welcoming staff. I come whenever I can. Good selection of hot sauces too! This restaurant is one of the greatest in town—good meals and beverages.
You must try the garlic cheese bread; it is delicious! Fantastic and beautiful location! You’ll be astonished when you go past those does and get inside. The décor and sensations you get as soon as you walk in are fantastic. The staff and the food it’s incredible. They’re serving as well as very very polite and kind servers. I come here once or twice a month with my family; my kids seem to love their crunchy and good-tasting pizza every time we come. It is a place that I recommend for everyone passing by Modesto, and it isn’t too far from the freeways either. It’s worth stopping to try any of the pizzas and other food they have to offer on the Menu. Get your slice! Michael’s service is always excellent, with friendly and attentive employees.
And let’s not forget about the pizza. This is where the garlic chicken shines. This is all they eat.To begin, get a cup of chili with cheese and soft dinner rolls. They have a vast cuisine as well as a good beer selection. You can’t go wrong here after a sporting event or simply for a quick meal. Great pizza and fantastic service. Our server made our day with his wit and charm, and my friend wants to go back again and again. So, this is one of the best casual bars and pizza places in Modesto. If you are in Modesto or near Modesto, we recommend visiting this spot at least once! Go with your family, friends or loved ones for a beautiful time.
The Fox Pub
The Fox Pub is modeled after a British pub; this saloon serves up American fare such as patty melts & Cobb salads. The decor reminded me of an old Irish bar– shiny, lacquered wood, dark interior, older worn carpet. The staff was friendly, same for all the patrons. Inside it’s a lively, loud place. We were fortunate to find a chair at the bar, but additional tables are available upstairs. There’s also seating out front. A special drink list sounded enticing, but we opted for the standby vodka/soda and a Redbull before getting back on the road to the Bay Area. We love this place. We have a warm welcome and good drinks every time we come in. The food is super good, and we always have a good time. Mike and Kenzie are amazing bartenders, making it a good and welcoming environment.
I cannot remember the bartender’s name(a brunette young man with a trimmed beard), but he was super amazing and helpful with food and business choices. We got here right at six ish when they opened. It was nice and not packed for a Friday, at least downstairs. But he said it would be later. I had the fish and chips but with a salad. The fish was so good. He said they lightly batter them, then set them away and batter and fry when they are wanted. I think that’s how he described it. But it makes them so good. My friend had grilled cheese, and she liked it! I love the decor. The bathrooms were clean and big. We got into town from LA on a Thursday afternoon and decided to check out The Fox Pub.
It was late afternoon, early evening, so it wasn’t too busy. We picked a spot at the bar. The bartender “Monica” was super cool. We ordered Fish and Chips, Artichoke Jalapeño Dip, and a Chicken Club sandwich. Everything was delicious! Even the tortilla chips which came with the dip were crisp and tasty. We found out they are made regularly by Maria, Monica’s mom. Talk about fresh, crispy, and authentic! We ordered a few Old Fashions to finish our late lunch and early dinner, which were spot on. Monica said they make them to perfection in memory of one of their former mixologists, “Josh,” as it was one of his specialties, and he was a master at his craft.
