The Burren Boston, Guide & Review
The Burren is an Irish Pub in Davis Square that offers live music, decent bar food, and a fun atmosphere. Since opening in January 1996, I have built a reputation for serving up a truly authentic Irish experience. Being in the heart of Davis Square, we’re only steps from the red line and Somerville Theatre and just a short walk to Tufts University. In addition to a great menu and wide selection of drinks, we have become the hottest live venue, with nighty shows featuring local, national, and international acts.
A Davis Square mainstay, the Burren is one of the most popular (and largest) Irish pubs on the north side of the river. During the afternoon, the front room—with its wood-slatted floors and a gentle light pouring through the windows—is full of folks tucking into bowls of beef stew, sipping pints of Guinness (or any number of local brews), and listening to informal Irish seisiúns. At night, the Burren is packed, largely with students from nearby Tufts University, who crowd the large back room to hear live (and loud) roots rock. The Burden opens Monday – Thursday from 11:30 am – 1:00 am, Friday 11:30 am – 2:00 am, Sat 10:00am – 1:00 am.
The Burren features great food, excellent staff, live music, an awesome vibe, friendly bartenders, a fun atmosphere, large portions, indoor and outdoor dining, popular with locals, classic cocktails, craft beer, late-night menu, stylish interior, and friendly staff with polite and attentive service. Great music spot. Free band in the front room. The back room has many top-notch local and traveling bands. Corned beef and cabbage, beef stew super delicious! What a great Irish pub experience downtown! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The bartenders and staff are always really friendly and it’s always a good atmosphere.
