The Merchant is a stylish, lively hangout with distressed wood & brick, featuring pizza, cocktails & garden tables. The Merchant in Ropewalks is an exceptional party venue that spans the gap between laid-back drinks and massive nights out. This entertaining haunt not only features a great outside patio suitable for pints in the sun but also offers a stellar schedule of DJ nights or street parties. The Merchant is undeniably one of the most stylish and relaxed places to drink in Liverpool, with DJs, artisan beer, and burgers. The Merchant’s interiors may appear unkempt, with overhanging vegetation, bare walls, and rustic materials, but when mixed with neons and wooden seats, the venue retains a sleek, urban vibe. Is there not enough inside? With its greenery, bar wall, and booths for chugging through the warmer months, its beer garden is a force to be reckoned with.
While various DJs take care of most Saturdays at The Merchant, the constantly reliable food and drinks keep customers coming back for more. The cuisine is casual and approachable, offering everything from delicious burgers and traditional pizzas to drinks and craft beer. The Merchant is a superb multi-purpose events facility in the heart of Liverpool’s Ropewalks district, located at the junction of Parr Street and Slater Street. The Merchant features a simple Scandinavian ambiance, ample outside garden space, and an unpretentious attitude. Since its inception in May 2016, events have featured Jungle DJ performances, World Gin Day festivities, and a weekly Bongo’s Quiz, a pub quiz with a twist.
To whet your appetite, they have Prosecco on tap, artisan beers and spirits from across the world, and over 50 different kinds of gin behind the bar. Outside in the garden, Felicity’s Kitchen, a new revolving kitchen’ idea that will allow the greatest of the Northwest’s street-food vendors to set up shop and flog their wares, will open. A stylish venue with quirky design and furnishings, as well as plenty of sitting options distributed throughout, it’s a beautiful location to chill in. Our visit was great. The bottles of craft beer, which were super, especially the IPAs and delicious pizza, couldn’t fault our visit. There is a great bar, excellent staff, and fair prices. What more could you ask for? When we come out of this lockdown, it’s a bar I highly look forward to visiting again. It’s easy to locate on the corner of Parr Street and Slater Street and is worth checking out if you’re in the area.
