Club 649 Montreal, Guide & Review
Nightclub in Montreal, Canada. Energetic, family-run Latin nightclub featuring dance lessons, DJ nights & weekly live music. Club 649 has been a family run business since 1985. It started as little bar on De La Montagne Street in downtown Montreal, a place where Myriam and Lois the owners, would perform. 28 years later and a risky yet successful move to St. Catherine Street, their children now help run the place.
This is the perfect combination of a fun crowd, great music, centrally located, a hard wood dance-floor, large dance room, delicious drinks, great friendly service; making it an ideal spot for dancers, party seekers and spectators alike. The club is the first to offer free dance lessons. Unlike other local clubs, there is no Velvet rope, and the gracious staff goes the extra mile for its regular patrons. Club 649 has live bands performing regularly and many dance shows including dance competitions. Club 649 has a Salsa Latin Groove Party. Whether you’re single or in a couple, come socialize and dance the night away on our dance floor. Like every Friday night, DJ Ricky Campanelli, a Latin Grammy Award nominee spins out his most caliente tracks of salsa, Bachata, kizomba and merengue for your dancing pleasure.
The evening starts at 9 P.M and goes up until 3 A.M. The DJ spins a good variety of very danceable music. The club is in a basement location right on ST. Catherine’s so it is a convenient location for anyone downtown Montreal. The dance floor is a large wooden rectangle with ample seating to take a break from dancing on. There are also stools and a high counter around the edge of the dance floor to remain in the action with a place to rest your drink. There were plenty of amazing dancers, dancing with far more emotion and people are seen to be into the music, and executing sexy styling, cool shines and complex patterns with great musicality. The club will remind you that there is great diversity in the way people dance salsa and that it is a continuous learning experience.
