Having arrived in town after a long drive from the South and checking into our hotel, a short walk from the quayside gets us to the Slug And Lettuce, the home of 2 -4 – 1 cocktail! Bring it on. There’s a real buzz when you get through the door, and it was like a Saturday night on a Sunday evening. Although the place was quite whole, we managed to find a table.

Queuing was very civilized at the bar and efficient. We ordered a little snack to fill our travel weary tummies, fish and chips for myself, and a curry thingy for my lady, which arrived in good time and was hot and very enjoyable, given that this is a bar and not a restaurant. We spent a lot of time here, mainly due to the drink prices, friendly staff, and buzz. The loos were spotless too. The tea itself was delicious, as were the drinks! The ambiance was fantastic, and we got a table near the window with a view of the quayside. Beth remained in touch with us during our stay, asking if we were okay and if we wanted additional beverages, etc. She was incredibly attentive and intelligent and put forth a lot of effort.

The hotel is located in the wealthy suburb of Jesmond.

97 & Social, Newcastle’s gastronomic center, is the ideal location to unwind by the roaring fire or dine al fresco in the warmer months. Last weekend, I went with some pals for tipsy tacos, and it was fantastic! The meal was delicious and plenty (some brunch spots serve very little), and we enjoyed the nachos. It was relatively busy, and we expected to wait a bit between drinks, but Ava fixed us out with bottles for the table. It was fantastic; she gave us everything we needed without difficulties and was also wonderful to converse with. I have been popping in here regularly for food and taking advantage of the special drinks. (Check the website for daily deals). The venue is lovely—plenty of room and comfy seating.

The food is fantastic! Particularly recommend the Sriracha Honey Glazed Chicken Wings and the King Prawn Pil Pil from the small plates menu. Fantastic range of cocktails is also really good. Great chilled atmosphere, friendly clientele, and efficient and lovely friendly staff. Good background music and a DJ on Saturday evening. It is our new fav go-to place. So glad we discovered it! We went on Saturday night with a large company, and even though it was a bustling night, the staff made a special effort to pay attention to our party. The food was more than affordable and tasty. The tall blond girl who brightened our evening and offered some delicious cocktails that we thoroughly loved provided excellent table service. It’s refreshing to witness such a calm atmosphere during the rush and activity of Osborne Road.

River Bar Washington

Drinks are River Bar’s passion and specialty, especially cocktails! Behind our bar, you’ll discover some of the most inventive mixologists in town, capable of concocting the most astonishingly sophisticated selection of drinks. Their dynamic menu draws influence from their American counterparts, with traditional tipples like the NY Cosmo and the Long Island Ice tea nestled amid their tantalizing innovations. Here at Riverbar, Tucked away on the banks of Washington, you’ll discover genuine Southern American-influenced BBQ soul cuisine. Mouthwatering low and slow smoked ribs and meats are served with classic sides like their house slaw, Cajun wedges, and BBQ beans from the kitchen. Slow-cooked, sloppy food made with love and meant to be shared.

They love to party just as much as you do, and making good times great is what they do best! Their staff is on hand to assist you in creating your perfect event, whether it’s a special occasion or simply an excuse to catch up with friends! The River Bar has just introduced a new menu, which appears to return to simplicity and what they do best: burgers and fries. There’s an extensive selection of burgers, sides, fries, and other items- I chose the Hot Chick buttermilk chicken on a brioche bun with other pieces and upgraded to the cheese and bacon fries, which turned out to be the most acceptable decision I’d made all week. It was excellent with a pint of Moretti. Go there- there are other items on the menu, but the burgers are fantastic.

Exceptional service from all of the personnel, but I can’t thank Mark enough for his advice on the finest drinks and cheerful service, as well as his constant visits to ensure we were having a good time. With the restrictions in place, I felt safe. We’ve found the food quality quite uneven here, but today was certainly one of our most excellent lunches. I hear a new chef is in place, and the quality and presentation of the cuisine reflect this. The garlic mushrooms were delicious and very appealing. The potato skins for kids were delicious. Boys’ pizzas were generously topped and, for once, not overcooked. The Fiume pasta was terrific, and there was enough chicken and bacon. My partner and I agreed that the main course portion sizes had greatly improved. My thanks to the chef.

Howlers are unquestionably Newcastle’s best party venue! Expect rowdy, strange, and insane behavior, including the famous ALL DAY Bottomless Bonkers Ball every Friday and Saturday…all at Newcastle’s only ball pit bar! I went to the bottomless pit. The event had two queens who amused us for two hours. It was far too quick. The cocktails were flowing freely. Your staff was excellent, always cheerful and helpful. The entertainment was fantastic! What a fantastic evening. I Loved their hospitality. Drinks were swiftly supplied, and we were never kept waiting. The staff was kind and lively, even dancing with us! We then booked the VIP La charge with cocktails for £15 each in the same room, but it turned into a nightclub, which was fantastic. I’d like to express my gratitude to Lorisse for her patience.

The door workers, servers taking drink orders, guys bringing out pizza, drag queens, and the kind guy who offered us the reserved booths in Verano were all fantastic on the day. It was the ideal way to cap off the hen celebration. The most acceptable night out ever! The staff was kind, and nothing was too much trouble. It’s challenging to find a clean and presentable venue these days! There’s a terrific atmosphere, friendly service, delicious pizza, and lots to drink! I had the BEST birthday party ever! The perfect spot for any celebration. The concert was fantastic, with bingo, audience karaoke, and my friend being picked to compete in a dance-off. The pizza slice was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Upgrade to the premium beverages; it was well worth it. We ended up staying the entire night, including an after-party upstairs at the nightclub.

The Botanist, Newcastle

The Botanist, Newcastle is a gastropub-style dining, kebabs, brunch & botanical cocktails in a striking interior. Friendly cocktail bar & restaurant serving food, brunch, hearty roasts, live music, and late-night drinks in Newcastle, Tyne. One of the best bars to check out in the city center, The Botanist serves creative concoctions alongside a brilliant food offering. On Sundays, there’s a roast menu featuring roast chicken and glazed maple carrots, honey glazed pork belly, and a mushroom and pearl barley wellington for vegetarians. And for live music lovers? Swing on by regularly for the sound of live musicians and the charming hum of an acoustic guitar. The room for our group of nine was wonderfully adorned. The staff was attentive, accommodating numerous sensitivities, and were informed, polite, and efficient! The cuisine was exceptional, especially the pig belly kebab, the drinks were beautiful (try the rose and rhubarb), and the music, ambiance, and staff excitement created a dynamic, joyful vibe. Thank you very much for your assistance in making our celebrations a success!

Yet again, an excellent meal. We chose a hot board to share and the fish, chips, chicken, and chorizo hanging kebab for mains. All come beautifully presented and piping hot. There’s always a great atmosphere here; by 1 pm, it was jam-packed. The staff work so hard and are friendly and efficient. The food was incredible; we had so many more drinks (all so good) and ended up sitting outside between 10 pm-1 am. Service was flawless from everyone, the tunes were great (live music, too), and the food and drink were of such a high standard. I think we’re going back before we head home for more drinks. It was just that good. There aren’t many restaurants that you can say are beautiful, there’s always a great atmosphere & the menu is so original too – the hanging kebabs are a winner! All the staff are always so lovely & seem to love working there.

Whatever your intentions are, their team will do all possible to develop the ideal party package to make your celebration unforgettable. I went down to try this new venue, the food was great, and the drinks were well priced. Portions were nicely sized, and you could tell the pizza was made with proper ingredients; pizzas were made in a massive pizza oven and tasted terrific. Drinks were reasonably priced, and the 2-4-10 cocktail deal they have going is brilliant; it lasts until eight, so I’d advise getting there a couple of hours before and trying as many as you can. That’s what we did. The staff were courteous and attentive, checking the food and drinks were fine and that we were having a good time and couldn’t have asked for more from them. All in all a great visit and I can’t wait to go again.

The taste was more than satisfactory. The staff was exceptionally kind and attentive and provided excellent meal and beverage recommendations. I couldn’t recommend it more! I can’t thank the Spy Bar Staff enough for making us feel welcome on a wet night. Hopefully, the next time we are there will be better weather and the sun shines when we enjoy the drinks and excellent service. The manager himself walked out to see if anyone needed anything. He was attentive and interested in the customer’s experience. The superb selection of beverages and the loaded fries were excellent—a wonderful experience with kind employees, especially Lucy, who made us feel so at ease. Best service on Osbourne road you have to come!

Livello exudes relaxed opulence. Private table bookings are now available in the main bar, courtyard, and ‘Opulenza’ members lounge. Absolutely in love with Livello, and it’s my favorite place to go out in Newcastle. For the past month, seating has been outside, and the staff has done what they can to sit people near heaters. Minimum spending isn’t an issue because you get told when booking, so it’s what you expect, and it’s definitely worth it. We reserved a cocktail masterclass for my birthday festivities.

The personnel provided excellent service. The class requires a minimum of 6 participants, and they made sure we could add more to our package, so we didn’t miss out on the difference. It was extremely simple and quick to respond to emails. Keron understands his stuff and makes things interesting with games and races! The music was terrific, and we were greeted downstairs with the leftovers from our drinks in the cozy seats. We’ll be back when we’re in Newcastle. We went to Livello for a few hours today. We were seated promptly but not in a fantastic seat (back alley), so we alerted Farah about our worries, and she quickly found us a beautiful table right in the middle. Following this, Sergio and Farrah both provided excellent service, and we had a terrific night. Good ambiance, great beverages, and courteous service.
