Eighteenth Street Lounge Washington DC, Guide & Review

Dance to the mansion of your big City in Northwest DC, which boasts of glamor and luxury; vintage chairs are spread all over the place. That is the Eighteenth Street Lounge. The club has five rooms: Large Room, with a fireplace and a dance floor view; Gold Room, suitable for private events; Jazz Bar with live jazz and whiskey and Scotch bar; Addendum Bar, speakeasy; and a 40-foot Deck Bar with a bar, a reclining roof, a D.J. booth, and a dance floor. Live music and a popular night of reggae and salsa keep locals and visitors coming back every Sunday night.

The 25-year-old nightclub will open in Shaw after closing in Dupont last summer. The owner of Eighteenth Street Lounge, a home-grown Dupont Circle club that closed last summer after 25 years of business, has signed a long-term lease agreement to revitalize D.C. night’s favorite in Shaw’s Blagden Alley. Farid Nouri tells Mdli that he has completed the transaction today. The two-story, 5,000-square-foot space at 1230 Ninth Street NW is almost half the size. Like the original location, the installed floor will play on the deck on the roof of the house, have a bar on each level, and will be able to handle many live things at once. That will include past resident DJs and an eclectic mix of jazz, funk, reggae, and Latin bands to help ESL improve its reputation. Nouri expects to open a new space in four to six months.

Regulars are big names for politicians, local celebrities, and city dwellers who still carry the high standards set by the former Prez. At ESL (as they are known by those who know), bouncers watch out, and it is best to leave your casual jeans and trainers at home if you want to smell the entry. The space is spread over two breasts with stairs in the middle, and Decorating is very old think of the style of the background, colorful paintings, Chesterfields, and the winged seats in the back to imagining that his old Teddy still feels at home. Customers, however, are up-to-date: the beautiful girls in Prada, Dolce, and Versace are lying on the couch drinking negronis, watching men jump over Armani smoke importing imported cigars while drinking iced bourbon.
