The forerunners of the music venue were the concerts organized by the Jazz forum association from 1974 in the Frankfurt slaughterhouse. After the demolition of the slaughterhouse it was partly due to the city that it continued: In order to preserve the musical culture, from 1995 the specially converted Südbahnhof was made available to the association – and the current operator of the music venue, Thomas Schlegel.
However, the current premises would continue to exist. Thus, the club Jazz forum could continue to rent the rooms on the terms that apply to all Frankfurt clubs. However, according to Schlegel, this is financially difficult because no subsidies are available. Without the catering service, the payment of the bands was not guaranteed.
