Woody’s and Sailor’s Toronto, Guide & Review

Woody’s is located in the heart of Toronto’s Boystown. Since opening in 1989, woody’s and its brother bar sailor (Located next door). Woody’s is Toronto queer cheers. While everybody may not know your name (Unless you’re a loyal regular), it’s the city’s friendliest and most welcoming gay bar. One of the best gay bars in the city, Woody’s opened in 1989, and while it has expanded in size to include the adjacent Sailor Bar, it really hasn’t changed that much. The bar has regular drag performances and legendary Georgie Girl has been hosting shows on Thursdays and Fridays for the past 15 years. Along with Georgie, there’s an outstanding lineup of drag talent, giving audiences high energy shows. Staff here is incredible and the bartenders are very friendly and nice. Great shows and a good crowd. Woody’s and Sailor is LGBT and the bar is huge with great drinks, great crowd, great Queens, and an overall good time. Nice, cold and good beer.

This church street spot often features up-and-coming baby queens working their way up the city’s drag ladder. Soft-core gay porn as well as parade and party videos plays throughout the bar on HD screens. There’s a bar where leather daddies can mingle with lesbians, and hunky out-of-towners can go to meet a weekend boyfriend. Woody’s has a full-time interior decorator, so the place is decked-out from floor to ceiling according to the time of year. It’s a spot for cruising and schmoozing, and while the crowd is mostly male, you’ll always find a few straight girlfriends and local lesbians ready to drink you under the table. There’s a dance floor, but this is not a dance bar and there’s never a cover to get inside. This is where you want to start your evening to find out about the hottest party, or where you’ll end up at last call before stumbling home with friends.

Woody’s is located in the heart of church – Wellesley Gay Village. Since opening in 1989, woody’s and its brother bar Sailor (Located next door) have become Toronto’s busiest and hottest gay bars. A large complex with four bars, Woody’s features nightly DJ’s. Woody’s/Sailor, actually is two bars fused into one, is the largest gay bar in Toronto and the default hangout venue for locals. Five bars, weekly events. The classic hangout from Queer as Folk.
