About Winnipeg

Winnipeg is the largest city and the provincial capital of Manitoba, Canada. Centered on the convergence of the Red and Assiniboine rivers, it is near the longitudinal center of North America and is approximately 110 kilometers towards north of the Canada–United States border. The city is named after the nearby Lake Winnipeg.The city and its surrounding were a trading center for native people way long before the arrival of Europeans. The city is also said to have the title of Cultural capital of Canada because of the ample amount of National Historic Sites of Canada. The city is home to the television studio, Manitoba Theatre for Young People, the Winnipeg International Children’s Festival, and the Manitoba Children’s Museum, which attracts ample amount of tourists. It also features a 30,000-square-foot skate plaza, an 8,500-square-foot bowl complex, the Esplanade Riel bridge, a river walkway, Shaw Park, and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. The Winnipeg Public Library is a public library network with 20 branches throughout the city, including the main Millennium Library.
